Meridiem makes more resources available to research on maritime technology. In the future, the key to gaining a competitive edge in the maritime industry is innovation. Our goal is strong Finnish expertise in maritime technology.

Innovation through research cooperation

Our main task is to create new forms of cooperation between research and industry. Meridiem research community implements and coordinates national and international research projects. An essential part of our work is to develop research networks, also at international level.

In our cooperation, our goal is also to produce business-oriented and interdisciplinary theses on topics relating to the maritime industry. International cooperation is promoted, for example, through cooperation agreements on student and teacher exchange programmes with the Brazilian Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).

The universities’ strategic research themes:

Our cooperation networks span out to Europe, such as Germany, Norway and Nordic countries and to Russia, China and Brazil.

Growth through new markets

Enhancing international connections is also vital in profiling expertise in maritime technology and forming cooperation alliances. Our global cooperation with various players equips us to help businesses to network and find the right tools for internationalisation.

We support the internationalisation of businesses, for example, with various projects and events. We act actively in extensive and versatile international network.

The premises, facilities and support services that the research groups need are provided by the Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd and the City of Turku, which are responsible for the operating conditions.
